Gods and Goddesses
Today in class we talked about gods and goddesses in ancient
Greece. The gods and goddesses would have interactions with humans as well as
other gods and goddesses. Some of the gods and goddesses include:
Zeus: He was the ruler of human and earth; father of Athena;
god of the sky, weather, thunder, lightning, law, order, and justice. He also
had a temper and is known for hurling thunderbolts.
Athena: She was the goddesses of wisdom, skill, warfare,
peace, intelligence, battle strategy, and handicrafts. She also was born out of
Zeus’ head fully formed and armored, and is a patron he of Athens.
Apollo: He is the god of music, arts, knowledge, and
healing. Zeus was his father and Artemis was his twin sister.
Poseidon: He was the god of sea, rivers, floods, and
earthquakes. He was the brother of Zeus and King of the sea and waters.
The Spartans were known for their tough, ruthless infantry.
Spartan boys started training when they were seven years old.
The Athens had the power when it came to the navy. They had
the trireme. The trireme was the fastest ship in the world at that time, 170
men rowed the ship from three layers, could be used as a batting ram, agile,
and fast.
