Finishing the Articles
Today in class we finished the seven articles and started to
go over the amendments. We started with the fourth article. The article was
about the involvement of congress in the states. Congress can make a new state
and can get rid of and make new regulations in the state. Also, the article talks
about the extradition of criminals and how to handle a situation if a slave
runs away. The fifth article is about how an amendment can be added to the
Constitution. For an amendment to be added, 2/3 of both house must approve it.
Another way it can be added into the Constitution, is for ¾ of the states to
agree on it. This is hard, but possible. The seventh article is about the
process to ratify the Constitution. The article says that the Constitution must
be ratified by at least nine states to put it in effect.
