Reviewing the Articles
Today in class we finished and reviewed articles. Article
one is on the people’s rights. Those rights include freedom of religion, speech,
press, assembly, and petition. The second article is about the right to bear
arms. This means people are allowed to have guns. The third article is about
the right that soldiers, even in war, can stay in an owner’s home without
permission. The fourth article says that a person or group of people cannot take
belongings that aren’t theirs without a warrant. The fifth article talks about what
you can do if you’re accused of a crime. You have the right to “plead the fifth”
which means you don’t have to say anything to the authorities without a lawyer.
The sixth article says that the defendant has the right to have their trial in
front of a jury and can have a lawyer presented to them. The seventh article
says that in a common lawsuit, if the idem does not exceed $20, the jury may
not always be an opinion. The eight article says that there cannot be a cruel
punishment or bail for a crime. The ninth article says that the people have
more rights that aren’t listed in the Constitution. The tenth article says that
any power not listed in the Constitution, the state has the power.
